• Calm & comfort: promotes relaxation during stressful moments*
• Hormone balance: provides natural hormone support and supports normal cortisol balance*
• Everyday health: promotes healthy skin with daily use*

How melatonin works

Melatonin is produced naturally in the pineal gland and peaks after sunset, signaling time of day and season to the body. Natural production declines with age, which is one reason older dogs often sleep less soundly. Research shows melatonin also influences hormone activity, including cortisol and ACTH, the signal that tells the adrenal glands to produce cortisol.* Further reading: American Journal of Veterinary Research, Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, PubMed.

Directions for dogs

Based on the protocol from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine and the late Dr. Jack Oliver, DVM, former head of its endocrinology department:

• Dogs over 30 lbs: 5–6 mg (1 capsule) every 12 hours
• Dogs under 30 lbs: 3 mg (open the capsule and give about half) every 12 hours
• Dogs 10 lbs or less: 1 mg every 12 hours (our 1 mg tablets are easier)

For stressful events, give 1 serving 30 minutes beforehand. Always consult your veterinarian before starting melatonin. See our full melatonin dosage guide for dogs.
